Xu Sheng, an honest programmer, saved every penny for six years, sending all his income to his girlfriend Shen Tang studying abroad—covering tuition, buying her desired designer bags, while he ate instant noodles and lived in a basement. He saved for a wedding ring, waiting for her to return and marry him. But when Shen Tang came back, she brought a man in a suit: "This is my fiancé; we're moving to Europe next week." Xu Sheng clenched the ring in his pocket, smiled and said "congratulations," then quit his job and moved to the seaside. It wasn't until Shen Tang sorted his luggage that she found a diary full of her name and a terminal gastric cancer diagnosis—he knew he was dying, so he gave her all his love, even leaving unsaid the desire to hold her one last time. When Shen Tang searched for him like crazy, Xu Sheng was sitting by the sea watching the sunrise: "At least she won't suffer anymore."
