In the old lane of 1999, top student Lin Xiaoman ducked into a video store to escape rain and accidentally hid Chen Mo—who was being chased—into the warehouse. They became "secret partners": Chen Mo took her on his motorcycle to watch stars by the riverbank, while Xiaoman gave her error notebook to the truant boy. But Chen Mo's "brothers' debt" was a ticking bomb. A week before the millennium eve, he left a pager with "Don't wait for me" and vanished. Ten years later, Xiaoman, now a TV director, found a VHS tape: the footage showed her studying for the college entrance exam, and Chen Mo's voice came from off-screen: "I saved enough for a new motorcycle. When the millennium bell rings, I'll take you to see fireworks..." The time on the screen froze at 00:00 on January 1, 2000.
