In the imperial palace of the Sheng Dynasty, Gu Zhao (played by Huang Youtian), the heir of the state-protecting general, is ordered to guard the ever-burning lamp symbolizing national fortune. He meets Su Qingyao (played by Ma Qiuyuan), a daughter of a wronged minister who hides her identity to clear her father’s name. They fall in love through the lamp, but get entangled in the concubines’ power struggle: the Empress uses the lamp’s “bad omen” rumor to suppress the Concubine, while the Concubine targets Qingyao as a “traitor’s remnant” to kill her. Gu Zhao struggles to protect Qingyao in the imperial vortex, but Qingyao discovers—Gu’s father was the key witness framing her family! When love collides with family hatred, will the ever-burning lamp light their redemption or push them into deeper darkness?
