Food editor Su Xiao, desperate to save her濒临-discontinued column, searches for "the most heartwarming old flavors" and stumbles into "Wei Xun" restaurant in an old alley——its chef Gu Yuan is so sharp-tongued that he calls her internet-famous cake "as sweet as a jar of saccharin". But when she learns Gu Yuan has been guarding the restaurant to wait for his missing grandfather to come back for a bite of authentic crab roe dumplings, they go from clashing to renovating the old shop and reviving traditional recipes together. Late at night, while boiling sugar syrup, Su Xiao realizes: "First taste" never means trying a dish for the first time——it’s the first time you taste the true heart hidden in someone’s flavors.
