Lin Chuan, an intern restorer at a museum, accidentally awakens Zhao, a spirit who has been trapped in a Warring States jade for a thousand years—waiting for her past-life lover, her vitality fading away. Zhao mistakes Lin Chuan for that lover, but Lin Chuan struggles between the grievance of being a "substitute" and the心疼 for Zhao: on one hand, Zhao's soul dissipates whenever she touches modern things; on the other, the truth of their past life—Lin Chuan's past self was the one who abandoned Zhao a thousand years ago. This lifetime's encounter is both Heaven's chance to "atone" and the "last time" they must face.
