A thousand-year-old red carp immortal, grateful for a mortal fisherman's life-saving grace, descends to the mortal world in human form to repay him. But she stumbles into a murder case in a fishing village and is mistaken by honest patrol officer Lu Shi for a demon stealing treasures and harming people. After going through dangers together, they gradually develop feelings from mutual suspicion. However, the constraints of immortals and mortals, the obsession with repaying kindness, plus instigation from evil spirits, leave cracks in their love. Finally, to save the fishing village from disaster, the red carp immortal sacrifices her thousand-year-old immortal yuan in pain, only to be misunderstood by Lu Shi as "demon spreading fallacies", kicking off a tragic love story.
