During the Republic of China, Shanghai detective Lin Shen investigates a series of "Other Shore Flower Murders" and meets the mysterious Su Wan—she has the same彼岸花 (Other Shore Flower) tattoo as the victims and always gets ahead of him in clue-hunting. As they fall for each other while closing in on the truth, they shockingly discover Su Wan was the "victim" of a murder five years ago. When the Other Shore Flower blooms again at the crime scene, the killer Lin Shen is after is the reason for Su Wan's "resurrection"; the secret Su Wan hides is the "past truth" Lin Shen fears to uncover—a game using love as bait and life as a stake has long trapped them in a vortex of "investigation vs. concealment" and "love vs. pain" because of that blood-red flower.
