Lin Xiaoman, a radio DJ in a Beijing hutong, meets Chen Mo, an investment banker from Hong Kong, while visiting a siheyuan for her "Regrets of Old Times" feature—this man in black-framed glasses, with an aloof vibe, looks exactly like the "mute boy" she met in Hong Kong ten years ago when she got lost. They promised to "watch fireworks at Disneyland when grown up," but Chen Mo suddenly disappeared. Now reunited, Chen Mo not only denies the past but also brings a plan to demolish the hutong for his company. While guarding the hutong's old memories, Xiaoman tries to wake the warmth in Chen Mo's heart, only to find his pain: his father went bankrupt then, he was forced to go to the US, and his mother’s last words were, "Don’t find that Beijing girl—you’ll drag her down." When the demolition order comes, Chen Mo leaves Disneyland fireworks tickets and a letter before vanishing—the letter says: "Xiaoman, I never forgot the fireworks that year. I just didn’t dare let you wait again."
