Zhao, a tea farmer's daughter in Lingnan's tea village, guards her late father's old tea garden. During spring tea-picking, she meets Cheng Yan, a scholar researching ancient tea trees. They grow closer through days of frying tea and searching for rare tea plants, but Cheng hides an old contract in his backpack—his grandfather once framed Zhao's father for breach of contract during a tea garden acquisition, which led to her father's death from depression. When Zhao finds the contract, she confronts Cheng: "Did you come to take the garden?" Unseen by her, Cheng clutches a medical report marked "advanced lung cancer"—he had planned to help Zhao get the garden listed as intangible cultural heritage before leaving quietly. In the spring wind, their love is tangled with hatred and secrets, like newly fried tea—fragrant yet tinged with bitterness.
