Lin Xiaoman, a 30-year-old career woman, just won a big project when she catches her Alzheimer's-stricken mother hiding a diagnosis letter—turns out Mom had long forgotten how to use phone navigation, but still walked three blocks every day to buy her warm sugar-hearted eggs. To help Mom regain memories, Xiaoman finds an old photo album and stumbles upon Mom's old study-abroad acceptance letter, with a note on the back: "My daughter is afraid of the dark; I have to stay with her." When Mom mistakes her for a "high school best friend," Xiaoman finally sobs out the resentment she'd hidden for a decade: "I deliberately went to college out of province just to escape your shadow!" But Mom touches her head, just like when she was little: "Silly girl, I folded a drawer of stars for you, each saying 'Be brave and fly.'" Until one morning, Mom holds up her elementary school red scarf and shouts, "Xiaoman, you're late!" Xiaoman finally understands: in Mom's forgetfulness, there's always unspoken "I love you" hidden.
