Lin Xiaoman, a piano tuner with a secret—she can 'hear' the colors of people's emotions: grievance is misty lavender, and heartthrob is dancing pink-orange. But when she meets Gu Shiyan, all she hears is dead black. This cold jewelry designer is like a temperatureless black jade, yet he pesters her every day to 'find his color', claiming his world has long lost its light. Xiaoman gradually falls for his vulnerability hidden behind aloofness, even hearing her own heart turn into burning red for him—until one day, she finds an oil painting in Gu Shiyan's studio: a girl identical to her, with the words 'the only light of my life' written below. It turns out Gu Shiyan is looking for his ex-girlfriend who died three years ago; and Xiaoman's 'special ability' exists because she is the 'color' Gu Shiyan dares not face in his heart. When the thorn of being a substitute pierces their hearts, and the dead black finally ripples, can they grasp the light that belongs to each other?
