A burnt-out modern office worker Lin Wan dies from overwork and accidentally time-travels to an ancient matriarchal dynasty where women hold all power. She is immediately saddled with a massive debt and must follow the dynasty's strict customs: unmarried women need to take two husbands to establish a foothold. She chooses a seemingly gentle down-on-his-luck scholar and an arrogant but capable deserter general. What begins as a straightforward plan to pay off her debts quickly spirals into a web of court intrigues and long-buried imperial cases. Forced to turn her fate around, Lin Wan not only clears her debts but also finds genuine affection across social divides.
