Modern otaku Lin Wan and Su Qing accidentally time-travel together into an ancient romance novel, becoming ill-fated cannon-fodder sisters. Worse, they are bound by a system forcing them to tease assigned villains or die. Lin Wan picks the cold, harsh Prince Jing, while Su Qing chooses the sickly fragile proton. While grumbling about the system's devil tasks, they find the villains are not as described in the book. They must not only survive the system's tricks but also uncover the villains' real secrets, staging a hilarious and twisty cross-time counterattack.
