Lin Xiaoman, a convenience store clerk, has a secret crush on Gu Chuan, a programmer who frequents her store for oden—he always wears a black jacket and silver-rimmed glasses, and gives the last fish ball to late-arriving kids. She sneaks an extra marinated egg into his box, remembers his "no cilantro" preference, but never dares to say more. Until a stormy night, Gu Chuan rushes in with a soaked laptop, shielding a box of unmelted strawberry daifuku (the dessert Xiaoman mentioned "wanting but sold out" yesterday). Wiping water from his face, he smiles: "I missed the last bus from overtime, but I don’t want to miss… the moon tonight, and the daifuku for you." That’s when Xiaoman notices Gu Chuan’s phone wallpaper is her profile as she arranges goods—turns out, that "one-sided crush" had long become a "mutual tentative wait" between them.
