Folk reporter Su Wan ventures into a Miao village in western Hunan to find her missing sister. Unconscious from miasma one night, she's saved by A Li, a boy in silver ornaments—he's the village's tabooed "Moonlight Young Master", who only appears on full moons. He helps her search for clues, sits with her by bonfires, and even sucks snake venom from her wound with his mouth. But when Su Wan finds a love curse jar in A Li's secret room, carved with her birth details, all tenderness turns sour: she's the reincarnation of a young doctor who took a sword for A Li 300 years ago. A Li used half his life to nurture the curse, just to make her "fall in love with him again". When Su Wan sobs, "You lied to me", A Li grabs her waist, his silver ornaments glinting coldly in the moonlight: "Once you're in my curse, you can't leave—after all, my life has long been tied to yours."
