College student Lin Xiaoman was abducted into the mountains while volunteering as a teacher and sold to her uncle Zhou Dazhu as a "wife". She endured humiliation to pretend obedience, secretly collecting traffickers' contacts and the Zhou family's "wife-purchasing" ledger. When Zhou Dazhu went to sell mountain goods, she cut the rope with a glass shard hidden in her shoe and escaped. Back in the city, she found Village Chief Zhou Fugui was the protector. Disguised as a "homestay investor", she returned, luring the Zhou family to reveal their human trafficking crimes with high rent, and uncovered that her mother was also abducted by the Zhou family years ago. Finally, the Zhou family was brought to justice, and she got the 20-year-overdue justice for her mother and herself.
