In the "Xiaoman's Candy Shop" around the corner, the last lemon candy is always reserved—that's Lin Xiaoman's exclusive spot for Gu Shen. The man who comes every Wednesday to buy candy, with a tiger tooth when he smiles, never shares his story. Until one day, Gu Shen disappears, leaving an unfinished letter on the counter: "Xiaoman, my hands can no longer hold the candy wrapper..." When Xiaoman finds Gu Shen, he's curled up in a hospital ward—he has ALS, and all his previous tenderness was a disguise hiding tears. Gu Shen wants to run away to avoid burdening her, but Xiaoman moves her candy pot to the ward, using sugar to wrap the bitterness of medicine: "The sweetness you gave me, I want to return it double." On that final rainy night, Gu Shen touches her face with trembling fingers: "This time, let me feed you a bite of sweetness."
