Top modern magician Lin Xiu is transported to the ancient Daqi Dynasty during a performance accident, waking up as the son of a disgraced official whose family was executed—his fiancée arrives to break their engagement, old foes plot his death, and he’s penniless! In desperation, he uses his past-life magic skills to survive: creating “immortal dew” with vinegar and baking soda to end a drought, using mirror reflections to fake “divine light” and expose a corrupt official’s lies, and even using misdirection to rescue Su Wantang, the wrongfully imprisoned daughter of the Minister of Rites, from death row. Su Wantang, a cold yet brilliant young woman who initially suspects his “sorcery,” grows fond of his wit and hidden warmth as they unravel court conspiracies. Lin Xiu soon discovers his time travel is tied to a massive plot to usurp the throne! When magic meets political intrigue, can his sleight of hand reverse his family’s fate? And will his romance with Su Wantang survive the chaos?
