Su Wan, who broke up with Yu Shiyan over a misunderstanding five years ago, returns to China with the secret of her terminal illness. She stops Yu, who just finished a lecture, and bluntly says, "Professor Yu, let's get married." Yu looks at the woman who has lost her innocence but hides exhaustion in her eyes, remembering her ruthless disappearance back then. He clearly still loves her but deliberately sneers, "Su Wan, do you think marriage is a joke?" However, when he finds the chemotherapy list in her bag, he realizes her "proposal" is a final cry for help—she's afraid of dying alone, while he's terrified of losing her again before saying "I do."
