Lady Paper Butterfly

share time: 2026-02-19 12:36:21

Lin Wandie from the paper-making shop "Butterfly Return Hall" in the old west gate of the town is called "Lady Paper Butterfly" for her paper figures that are said to "connect the living and the dead". However, she is spurned by the whole town due to her parents' "collaboration charge" 20 years ago. Lu Jingshen, the young master of the Lu family, insists on approaching her against social prejudice—he remembers that when he was bullied as a child, Wandie used a paper butterfly to block stones for him; when he was dying of a high fever, she used a paper figure to bring a doctor. But just as they are about to break through prejudice, Lu's father suddenly dies violently, and Wandie's "death-seeking paper butterfly" is left at the scene. Jingshen goes from unwavering trust to doubt. To prove her innocence, Wandie digs up the old case and discovers that her father was framed and killed by Lu's father, her mother died in a fire to save her, and Lu's father's death was a frame-up by his stepmother to seize the family property. When the truth is revealed, Wandie holds the paper butterfly left by her mother and bids farewell: "I once thought love could cross hatred, but some wounds can't be mended even with paper." Watching her back, Jingshen finally realizes that he has lost the only heartbeat of his life.
