Lin Xiaoman, a "sunny girl" who just failed her startup, grits her teeth to rent the old house of "iceberg uncle" Gu Beicheng to save rent. She expects a cold face every day, but Gu's "sharp tongue" is full of unhidden tenderness—hot congee left at midnight is still warm, the suit jacket he hands her when she's cried by a client carries his body temperature, and he even secretly pays her supplier debt. When Xiaoman thinks she's fallen into an "uncle's trick", she finds a photo pressed in Gu's drawer for three years: the back of her holding an umbrella for a stranger in a convenience store during college. It turns out those "pamperings" are his true heart that he's been waiting for a thousand days.
