Forest ranger Lin Xiaoman has guarded the deep mountains for ten years, searching for her missing grandfather—her youth tangled in an obsession wrapped by mountain fog. When utilitarian photographer Gu Chuan breaks in with a camera, aiming to shoot a viral documentary about "the foolishness of mountain guardians", they clash fiercely. But as they peel off each other's masks, Gu Chuan's escape from family and Xiaoman's fear of "giving up" are exposed. It's not until they find Grandpa's diary in the old woods that they realize their obsessions have long intertwined: what Gu Chuan seeks as "initial heart" is the "warmth" Xiaoman has guarded for a decade; what Xiaoman waits for as "the returning one" is the "true heart" Gu Chuan finally dares to face. When the fog lifts, they understand: crossing mountains isn't for someone—it's to meet the one who makes you no longer want to climb any more.
