Forest ranger Lin Xiaoman has guarded the deep mountains for ten years, searching for her missing grandfather—her youth tangled in an obsession wrapped by mountain fog. When utilitarian photographer Gu Chuan breaks in with a camera, aiming to shoot a viral documentary about "the foolishness of mountain guardians", they clash fiercely. But as they peel off each other's masks, Gu Chuan's escape from family and Xiaoman's fear of "giving up" are exposed.
