Jiang Li, an overlooked maid, accidentally gains the ability to read minds—and discovers the inner thoughts of the tyrannical Emperor Gu Zhao. In public, he’s a “living Yama” who beheads ministers without blinking; in private, he panics when she spills tea (“Don’t kneel, your knees will hurt”) and curses the imperial doctor when she’s sick (“If you can’t cure her, I’ll execute your entire clan”).
