Li Erniu, a poor young man, goes to the city to raise money for his mother's medical bills. He accidentally enters a massage parlor and witnesses his fellow villager and sister-in-law Zhou Xiulian being forced into prostitution by a bully. He risks his life to save her but is chased into the mountains, where he falls into Nuwa's relics and awakens her legacy—gaining the ability to see through illnesses and control soil. Back in the village, he cures villagers' chronic diseases with his medical skills, improves barren fields to grow magical herbs with his earth-controlling power, and unites villagers to fend off the bully's land grab. As life flourishes, his shared-hardship feelings with Xiulian are criticized due to their "uncle-sister-in-law" status. Can they overcome世俗 obstacles?
