An ordinary modern youth accidentally travels to the harsh Ice Age, resigned to death—until he discovers he can understand animal languages! With this unique skill, he tames a fierce polar bear as his loyal sidekick, trains clever penguins as pathfinders, builds a camp from scratch, and repeatedly survives crises like ice cracks, snowstorms and wild beast attacks. In despair, he forms a deep bond with his animal partners and spends the cruel years together.
