When rural youth Chen Dashan rescues an injured white fox while gathering herbs in the mountains, a little girl in a white dress shows up at his door that night, calling him "Father"—it turns out this white fox has cultivated for a hundred years and taken human form to repay the kindness. The village villain Uncle Egre wants to seize Chen's old house, colludes with mountain poachers to target the spiritual vein where the fox hides, and even tries to take away Cuihua, the beauty at the supply shop that Chen admires. Chen fends off Uncle Egre's unreasonable troubles and teams up with the fox girl to destroy the poaching gang. Finally, he protects his home and the spiritual vein, and wins Cuihua's heart.
