Lin Xiaochuan, a downhill acupuncturist, stays alone in Taohua Village just to get back the 100,000-yuan betrothal gift he gave to village flower Li Wan'er. But as soon as he arrives, he's hit by a fishpond plague—villagers' fry are dying in clusters, the village doctor is panicking, and the village head calls him a "poor disaster-bringer". Lin grits his teeth and uses his family's acupuncture skills to uncover the truth: the pond is contaminated by parasitic snails! He uses silver needles to stimulate the fish's "life gate" acupoint to boost their immunity and boils herbal soup to purify the water—miraculously saving the fishpond. Villagers go from spitting at him to crowding around him for advice. When Lin brings up the betrothal gift, Wan'er's father sneers: "First do three things for the village—cure the old party secretary's chronic rheumatism, sell all the unsold tangerines, and beat the 'divine doctor' from the next village. Otherwise, forget the money!" As Lin solves problems with his medical skills, he notices Wan'er still looks at him with softness—and discovers the fishpond plague is actually a trick by Wan'er's father's sworn enemy...
