When Lin Shen got orders to transfer to a more dangerous tunnel project, Su Wan didn't beg him to stay—she just stuffed a hand-knitted sweater into his bag: "I'll wait at the school. Come back, and you'll teach the kids science." Thirty years later, the white-haired couple sat at the school gate they built together, watching high-speed trains race past the mountains.
