Modern emergency doctor Lin Yan accidentally travels back in time while working on a research project late at night, waking up as Xiao Fuzi—the most lowly eunuch in the palace, who’s just been pinned down by the head eunuch for spilling Concubine Li’s medicine and is about to be crippled. Using his modern medical skills and a portable first-aid kit, he saves Concubine Li from a sudden heart attack, escaping punishment and becoming her “medical eunuch.” However, the palace is full of intrigue: the Empress sends assassins to target Concubine Li out of jealousy, and consort clans plot to seize power using the Emperor’s “serious illness.” Lin Yan uses homemade explosives to fend off assassins and stabilizes the Emperor’s condition with Western medicine, gradually gaining Concubine Li’s trust. But when helping her take regency, he discovers the Emperor’s “illness” is a ruse—behind it lies a succession conspiracy, and he’s been tangled in the power struggle from the start. When Concubine Li asks, “What do you desire?”, Lin Yan looks at the dragon throne in the Hall of Supreme Harmony and smiles: “I want a world where no one dies because they can’t afford treatment—like in my past life.”
