Gu Ye, a rural-born man who built a career in the city, returns home for a visit. Grateful for his cousin's past help, he takes in his cousin's down-and-out family. But they go too far—occupying his ancestral home, spreading rumors that he's "forgotten his roots," and even stealing his mother's medical fees, leading to her hospitalization. The normally gentle Gu Ye finally snaps. Using his business skills, he reclaims his home, exposes his cousin's hypocrisy, and makes those who hurt his mother pay. In a satisfying反击, he declares: "My kindness was never a license for your recklessness!"
