A modern socially anxious girl accidentally travels to ancient times and becomes the "black charcoal" Concubine Coffee, who is shunned by everyone in the palace. She tries to lay low and survive the palace intrigue with the idea that "the uglier, the safer", but is targeted by the suspicious emperor as soon as she enters the palace. The emperor always senses there's a secret behind this concubine, and even chases her at night to force her real identity. The girl sneers and retorts: "Concubine Coffee, only Concubine Coffee." This line completely hits the emperor's weakness, making him break down on the spot, and the tussle between the two is full of reversals and sweet-tension from the start.
