Lin Shen and Su Wan were childhood sweethearts who shared watermelons at the old alley mouth. At 18, Lin Shen vanished without a trace, leaving only "Wait for me." Ten years later, they meet again in a hospital—he's a returning heart surgeon with a "fiancée," she's an ICU nurse hiding her terminal illness diagnosis. It turns out he left to work illegally abroad to fund her surgery, while she hid her condition to not burden him. When Lin Shen holds her hand during surgery and says, "I had our marriage application in my pocket when I left," all the years of separation across mountains and seas become a mutual devotion of "I never gave up." The heart-wrenching regret finally turns into sugar with his last words: "Marry me."
