Eight-year-old beggar Lin Xiaomo sets out to find his mother with a half-piece jade pendant from his master, the Painting Immortal. By chance, he's taken in by Su Wan, a down-and-out老板娘 of a silk shop in the capital—Su Wan is being hounded for her late husband's debts and pities Xiaomo, so she keeps him as a helper. But Xiaomo doesn't know Su Wan is his mother; Su Wan has no idea this skinny kid holds the Painting Immortal's treasure: a divine brush that brings drawings to life! When Xiaomo uses the brush to paint peonies and saves Su Wan from debt collectors, when their jade pendants unexpectedly fit together, the truth of their mother-son reunion is within reach—but why did Su Wan abandon her son years ago? And what trouble will the Painting Immortal identity bring to this soon-to-be-reunited mother and son?
