Elderly widow Granny Wang rescues a mute, injured girl named Xiaohua during a snowstorm, only to face ridicule from villagers who brand the child an omen of doom. Defying scorn, Granny Wang spends her life savings nursing Xiaohua back to health, soon witnessing miracles: dead trees bloom at the girl's touch, and ailing neighbors recover overnight. But when masked assassins hunt Xiaohua, Granny discovers she's a celestial fortune star exiled from heaven. In a climactic showdown, Xiaohua screams 'Grandma!' to summon thunderbolts that strike their pursuers. As divine enforcers arrive to reclaim her, Granny bars the door with her walking stick, demanding the heavens: why bless mortals only to steal their last ray of warmth?
