Retired worker Zhou Jianguo suddenly becomes a "burden" to his son Zhou Ming—forced to move to the storage room and eat leftovers with the family dog. Zhou Ming's reason is blunt and hurtful: "You have no pension, why should you take the master bedroom?" Neighbors feel sorry for the old man, but no one knows that this "down-and-out dad" is actually the hidden president of the listed group "Mingyuan Holdings". This "pretending to be poor" is his ultimate test for his son. When Zhou Ming secretly pawns his father's old watch to raise a down payment for a school district house, only to learn at the pawnshop that the watch is worth millions, he realizes: the "burden" he tried so hard to get rid of is actually the person he should cherish most in the world.
