Socially anxious screenwriter Lin Xiaoman’s ambiguous scenes are always dismissed by sharp-tongued producer Lu Shiyan as “robotic and formulaic”. To save her script, she’s forced into Lu’s “immersive ambiguity experiment”——sharing oden at a convenience store, pretending to be a couple choosing sofas, hiding under one umbrella on a rainy night… What started as a功利ous “performance” slowly shifts: Lu secretly blocks her deadline calls, and Lin leaves him a cup of hot cocoa during overtime. But as the ambiguity deepens, Lin finds Lu’s phone wallpaper is the cover of her unfinished novel from years ago——he’d been watching her all along? Is this “experiment” a work assignment, or a premeditated heartbeat?
