Lin Xiaoman, an old object restorer, receives a Republic of China-era desk lamp engraved with "Love is a beam of light". While restoring it, she finds half an unsent love letter from Su Nian, a 1947 female student, to her lover A Lin. The dying Su Nian shows up—she wants to find A Lin, who has been missing for 70 years, before her life ends.
