When Lin Xiaoman sorts through her late mother's belongings, she finds half a love letter in an old high school notebook—it’s the unfinished confession from Zhou Xingchuan, whom she secretly loved twenty-three years ago. That night, Zhou, who vanished years ago, suddenly appears at the old alley’s chestnut stall, wearing the same dark blue coat as back then. It turns out Zhou planned to give her the letter under the old locust tree on Winter Solstice night, but he overheard Lin crying, “My mom’s in the hospital—I’m transferring tomorrow,” and mistook she had someone she loved. Lin, rushing to the hospital, missed their date and never saw the letter in his hand. Twenty-three years of misunderstanding unravels this winter: he kept the wool gloves she gave him, with calluses from knitting her a scarf still on his fingers; she treasured his half-written letter, its corners yellowed by the rain that night. When Zhou takes out the secretly copied classroom key—he wanted to show her the starry sky he drew on the blackboard—snow falls, covering their tears, and the words “I liked you too” finally find their way out after twenty-three years.
