Senior metalworkers (all Class 8 skilled fitters) stage a collective strike, and the factory is on the verge of being acquired by foreign capital at a low price. The protagonist tears up the petition publicly, refusing to bow to capital. Instead of relying on veteran fitters, he teams up with an overlooked cleaning worker to conduct research in the scrap steel yard. He fights against foreign capital's technical blockade and malicious suppression, and also quells doubts from some fitters. Eventually, with their wisdom and persistence, they build a military-grade heavy machine, break the foreign monopoly, win a billion-dollar order, and rise from grassroots to become a legend controlling the heavy industry empire.
