In the 1980s, an old family courtyard is stunned by Rong Mei, a beauty in a Persian brocade dress—she just traveled from a thousand years ago, only to face being buried alive, and was saved by Liu Rong, a honest female worker who risked her life. To repay the kindness, Rong Mei uses the shrewdness of an ancient Persian merchant’s daughter to help Liu Rong get back her withheld wages and stand up to bullying neighbors, becoming the courtyard’s beloved “protective guardian.” But just as she starts to fit in, Liu Rong’s husband Zhou Nanxu, missing for three years, returns—his sharp suit and familiar face are exactly the “Central Plains merchant” she met in a Persian market in her past life! That unfulfilled “Wait for me” from centuries ago actually chased her across a thousand years to the 1980s?
