Su Wan, a socially anxious bookstore owner, and Lu Shi, a sharp-tongued pastry chef, are forced to collaborate on the "Literary Sweet" project. She fears losing if she makes the first move; he’s scared his eagerness will push her away—they’ve brushed fingers while revising plans late at night, stolen glances at each other’s smiles during taste tests, yet hide "I like you" behind jabs like "Your coffee’s too bitter" or "The books you pick are too dull". It isn’t until Su Wan gets a fever and Lu Shi carries her to the hospital, with a note reading "Want to be with me?" (written ten times) falling from his pocket, that this "half-ripe" crush finally starts to turn sweet.
