Lin Xiaoman, a residential security guard, has always been ashamed of his father Lin Ashui's job as a fishmonger—so much so that he dare not approach Su Wan, the resident he secretly loves. Until one day, several luxury cars pull up to the fish stall, and a man in a suit bows to Ashui, calling him "Boss." It turns out that ten years ago, Ashui was the leader of a Southeast Asian seafood empire. He retired to the市井 to save Xiaoman from a kidnapping, and now his old subordinates have come to ask him to return to save the collapsing family business. When the protection behind the "fishy smell" is revealed, Xiaoman finally understands: the ordinariness he despised is the sense of security his father traded half his life for.
