Modern corporate slave Wu Yang accidentally travels to ancient times and becomes a Taoist, gaining an "immortality" that makes him invulnerable to blades, lightning, and even cliff jumps (he gets stuck in a tree). Hoping to "die happily" in this new life, every suicide attempt backfires: his poison is knocked over by Su Wantang, the prime minister's daughter fleeing danger; his cliff jump ends with him catching her from assassins; even a lightning strike leaves him unharmed, prompting him to complain, "Did this lightning skip breakfast?" Forced to team up, Wu Yang gripes about his unkillable body while helping Su investigate her family's murder. Their relationship shifts from mutual annoyance ("You're ruining my death plan!") to sweet protection ("Don't fear, I'm here"). Gradually, Wu realizes "immortality" isn't a curse—it's fate's way of giving him a "second chance to live."
