The stone demon on the mountain outside the town triggered falling rocks to warn villagers after they accidentally destroyed his spirit-gathering formation, and was rumored to be a "man-eating monster". The imperial princess (Lady) came incognito, carrying the jade pendant from when the stone demon saved her ten years ago—he had manifested to block falling rocks when she fell off a cliff. But the stone demon, convinced humans were ungrateful, raised his stone arm to drive her away. The lady took out half a formation stone: "They didn't destroy the formation on purpose—they were rescuing children abducted by bandits!" Green light seeped from the demon's cracks, recalling the cries he heard years ago but couldn't reach. This time, the lady would untie the ten-year knot between him and the villagers.
