17-year-old Lin Xiaoman is going crazy over her mom lately—her once soft-spoken mom seems “possessed,” yelling strange “bans” every day: “Don’t drink the water in the living room!” “Don’t answer unknown calls!” “Never open my drawer!” Xiaoman rebels: she drinks the water and nearly chokes, answers a scam call, and finds her mom’s cancer diagnosis in the drawer.
