Su Wan, a modern cultural relic restorer, accidentally triggers a time-space link while repairing an ancient inkstone inscribed with "The Sea as Inkstone". Through it, she sees Gu Zhao, a general who guarded Cangming Pass a thousand years ago: his back writing home letters on the city wall, his blood-stained armor in sea battles, and his murmur to the horizon, "If there’s an afterlife, I’ll use the sea as an inkstone to write all my longing for you." Gu Zhao also senses Su Wan—late at night, the inkstone shows her repairing relics; amid war drums, he hears her whisper "Be careful". But the inkstone’s power is fading, and each connection counts down. Su Wan learns Gu Zhao will die in a sea battle in three days. She fights to change his fate, only to realize she’s long been the "unmet old friend" in his memories...
