Introverted and reticent Xu Zhixia bumps into Xiao Ye, who is full of guard like a prickly hedgehog, in a sweltering summer. Both are stuck in life's mire: Xu Zhixia is troubled by pressure to further study, while Xiao Ye is worn out by family burdens. An accidental help breaks the ice; they shelter from rain, chat heart to heart and share meager snacks, finding lost warmth in each other. From tentative approach to sincere treatment, the two teenagers grow up in trivial company and finally run to their respective distant places from this small town with yearning for the future.
