Lin Xiaoman returns to the old alley to fulfill her grandmother's will and reopens the 'Late Summer Dessert Shop.' There, she reunites with Chen Mo, her neighbor who vanished abruptly years ago—now he’s the developer tasked with demolishing the alley. Amidst cicada chirps, they clash fiercely over the demolition. But while sorting her grandmother’s belongings, they find an old tape: the cicada songs reveal why Chen Mo left—he’d gone abroad to study architecture to save her critically ill grandmother. Moreover, the grandmother had kept a blueprint of the alley, which contains Chen Mo’s father’s 'organic renewal' plan for the area.
