Li Zhaoning, the most arrogant princess of the Great Zhou Dynasty, is "exiled" to the northwest to supervise the army after offending the Empress Dowager. There she meets Gu Yanzhi, the Northern Town General who just recaptured lost territory and despises nobles. He finds her delicate and obstructive, so he sets traps to make her suffer military hardships; she, however, is determined to tear down his "cold-hearted iron-faced" facade and uses palace rules to make him retreat step by step. But when the Hu cavalry attacks again, at the moment Gu Yanzhi shields her from an arrow, he realizes that this "troublemaker" who always opposes him has long tied her safety to his sword—turns out the fiercest "taming of defiance" is giving one's heart to the most defiant person.
