In an old pawn shop of the Republic of China era, a jade hairpin carved with mandarin ducks hides a century-old secret. Lin Zhixia, a modern antique restorer, finds the hairpin in her grandmother’s relics. After wearing it, she shuttles into Republican dreams frequently, witnessing her grandma’s poignant love with patriotic officer Shen Yanzhi, only to be caught in a betrayal and murder case. As the hairpin’s magic emerges, she travels between past and present, uncovering her grandma’s wrongfully-dead truth and meeting a photographer who looks exactly like Shen Yanzhi in reality, finally fulfilling the eternal regret of that era.
